This vigorous and healthy climber produces clusters of small, crimson-purple flowers.

Marquésia Hunaud de Lanta was a Cathare woman, martyr, burnt at the stake at Montségur on March 16, 1244. Her daughter Corba and her grand-daughter Esclamonde, all three died, along with about 200 others, on the same pyre after the siege and battle of Montségur.
