Modern Hybrid Portland
Hybridized by Jean-Pierre Vibert 2001

This lightly scented rose has large, blood red blooms, which open flat. Each bloom measures three or four inches in diameter. This rose has foliated sepals and large, handsome, healthy, dark green foliage. Canes are well armed. Not remontant.

Named after Sancia of Aragon (1186-1242), daughter of troubadour King Alfonso II of Aragon, first wife of Count Raymond VII of Toulouse in 1211. Their only daughter and sole heir, Jeanne of Toulouse (1220-1271), was married to Charles of Anjou (1220-1285), one of King Louis IX of France's brothers.
