Hybrid Gallica
Hybridized by Jean-Pierre Vibert 2001
This fragrant rose has very double (more than 150 petals) blooms, shaped like a ranunculus, with visible pistils. The many small petals are various mixtures of deep purple, crimson, reddish-purple, or cherry red. Foliage is dark and beautiful.
Dedicated to Sylvain Michaud, Jean-Pierre Vibert's maternal great-grandfather. He was a horticulturist in Meudon-Bellevue close to Paris with his wife, Fleurantine Médard. He was also the custodian of the cemetery in Meudon.
